Square One Development Group builds and renovates architect-led homes in Bethesda and across Montgomery County — including Jigsaw, a nationally honored residence right here in Bethesda.
Established neighborhoods, ambitious design.
Bethesda’s most desirable streets are largely built out, which means the best work is often a careful transformation — reimagining or replacing an existing home on a mature lot without disrupting the character of the block. It takes a builder who can navigate Montgomery County permitting, protect established landscaping and neighbors, and deliver modern, architect-led design at the highest standard.
Jigsaw, designed by David Jameson, FAIA, recycled a single-story Bethesda house into a contemporary courtyard home — planes of stucco shifting to plaster through glass, reading the same inside and out. It is the recipient of a 2009 AIA Institute Honor Award, one of American architecture’s highest national distinctions, and was featured in Architectural Digest. It remains one of the clearest demonstrations of what the right builder brings to architect-led work in Bethesda.
New construction, whole-house renovations and additions, and refined interiors — all architect-led. See the broader approach on our custom homes page, and the care that continues after move-in through Square One Care.
