Custom Home Builder in Washington, DC

Square One Development Group builds and renovates architect-led residences across Washington, DC — from row-house transformations to high-end condominiums, executed with precision and discretion.

Building in the District

City building is its own discipline.

Working in DC means building on narrow lots and remnant parcels, inside historic districts and review boards, and within the constraints of occupied buildings and tight urban access. It rewards a builder who plans early, coordinates relentlessly, and holds the tolerances that fine finishes require. We’ve built across the city’s conditions — from a four-story home on a fourteen-foot lot near Rock Creek Park to two-level condominium renovations taken back to the slab.

Proof in the District

Ontario Residence, designed by David Jameson, FAIA, reinterprets the urban row home on a compact lot — a perforated-steel stair passing light through four stories — and is the recipient of a Residential Design Architecture Award. Logan Circle, designed by Todd Webb of Dirk Denison Architects, was a condominium rebuilt around a floating stair and skylit core, published in Interior Design. Our Logan Circle Penthouse brought the same precision to a top-floor residence.
